Chapter 13 - THE FINAL BOARDROOM

A month later, the annual shareholder meeting of Hale Enterprises was convened in the grand auditorium downtown.
Brokers, board members, and major investors sat in rows of plush velvet seats, murmuring quietly among themselves about the future of the company.
When the lights dimmed, the side door of the stage opened.
Lily stepped out onto the stage, wearing a tailored navy suit, her auburn hair falling neatly over her shoulders.
She took her place behind the podium, looking out at the hundreds of influential faces waiting for her address.
The room fell into an immediate, respectful hush.
"For decades, this company was governed by fear, secrecy, and greed," Lily began, her voice amplified clearly throughout the hall.
"My late husband, Julian Hale, believed that real strength does not come from intimidating others or hiding the truth."
"It comes from accountability, integrity, and building something that lasts."
She gestured to the large screen behind her, which displayed the newly restructured charter of the Hale Foundation.
"As the sole trustee of the major holding shares, I am announcing today a complete restructuring of our board and a full liquidation of our offshore holdings."
"Every dollar stolen from the charitable foundation will be returned with interest."

The room erupted into applause, led by the senior board members who had long suffered under Eleanor's tyrannical reign.
Lily stood tall, feeling the weight of the past finally lift completely off her shoulders.
