Chapter 9 - THE UNEXPECTED VISITOR

Jax kept the revolver aimed directly at the wooden door.

"Open it slowly," Jax ordered, gesturing for Richard to stay behind Maya.

The door creaked open, revealing Julian standing on the porch, drenched in rain.

He looked pale, exhausted, and bruised around his eyes.

He held his hands high in the air, showing he was completely unarmed.

"How did you find this place, Julian?" Richard asked, stepping forward cautiously.

"I followed the tracker on Mom's secondary security team," Julian confessed, his voice shaking.

"I knew she sent them up the mountain pass."

"Are you here to help her?" Jax asked coldly, not lowering his gun an inch.

"No!" Julian cried out, tears spilling down his pale cheeks.

"I saw the files in her home office tonight," Julian confessed, pulling a thick folder from under his jacket.

"I didn't believe Dad at the hospital... I thought he was just angry," Julian admitted, looking at Maya.

"But I broke into her safe after you fled."

Julian stepped into the room and threw the thick manila folder onto the wooden table.

"It's all in there," Julian said, his voice broken.

"The fake medical records, the forged adoption papers, the payments to Dr. Aris..."

"And the medical report from the night Elena died," Julian added quietly.

Jax lowered his revolver slowly, his eyes fixing on the folder.

He stepped over to the table and flipped the folder open with trembling fingers.

Inside were original documents stamped with the official seal of the state hospital from twenty years ago.

"She kept them..." Jax muttered, his voice choked with rage.

"She kept them as leverage against the doctors who helped her," Richard realized.

"She keeps evidence on everyone so nobody can ever betray her," Richard said.

Maya looked up at Julian, her expression filled with mixed sorrow and gratitude.

"Why are you giving this to us, Julian?" Maya asked softly.

Julian walked over and fell to his knees beside her couch, hiding his face in his hands.

"Because I can't be her accomplice anymore, Maya," Julian sobbed bitterly.

"I thought she was protecting our family... but she was just protecting her money."

"She told the lawyers to prepare the child custody papers for 8:00 AM tomorrow," Julian warned them.

"She called a private judge to sign the temporary guardianship order."

"If we don't present this evidence to the district attorney before 8:00 AM, it's over," Julian said.

Richard looked at the clock on the cabin mantle.

It was already 3:30 AM.

They had less than five hours before Victoria executed her final legal trap.

"The district attorney is in Victoria's pocket," Richard noted bitterly.

"We can't just walk into the courthouse with papers."

May you like

"Then we don't go to the district attorney," Jax said, his eyes glowing with dark determination.

"We go directly to the press conference she scheduled at the city plaza tomorrow morning."
