Chapter 18 - THE REUNION

The deep, steady hum of a heavy motorcycle engine idle stopped outside the gate.
Richard, Maya, and Julian walked out onto the wooden front porch.
Standing beside a customized black motorcycle was Jax.
He looked different; he had trimmed his long beard, and his dark eyes looked calm and peaceful.
He carried a small, wrapped wooden box under his arm.
"Jax!" Maya called out, walking down the steps toward him.
Jax walked up the pathway, looking at Maya with deep, unspoken emotion.
"I heard the good news," Jax said, his voice softer than before.
"I brought something for the little guy."
He handed the small wooden box to Maya.
Maya carefully unwrapped the paper and opened the latch.
Inside lay a hand-carved silver medallion shaped like a motorcycle wheel, inscribed with the date of his birth.
On the back were carved the simple words: Always Protected.
"It belonged to my father," Jax explained, looking down at his boots.
"I wanted him to have it."
Tears filled Maya's eyes as she touched the polished silver medallion.
"Thank you, Uncle Jax," Maya said softly.
Jax froze for a second, hearing the word 'Uncle' for the very first time in his life.
A deep, emotional breath escaped his chest, and he nodded slowly.
"You're welcome, kiddo," Jax replied, his voice slightly thick with emotion.
Richard stepped forward, extending his hand to Jax.
"Stay for lunch, Jax," Richard offered warmly. "We have plenty of room."
Jax looked at the cozy beach house, then at Richard, Julian, and Maya.
For twenty years, he had been a lone wolf running from his past.
For the first time, he felt he had a home to come back to.
"Yeah," Jax smiled, taking Richard's hand in a firm handshake.
May you like
"I think I'd like that."
They walked back toward the house together under the warm afternoon sun.
