Chapter 6 - THE TRUTH ABOUT THE WOMAN HE MARRIED

Daniel returned to the mansion that afternoon.
Victoria was still in custody.
But the house felt different.
Empty.
Cold.
Like the walls themselves knew something terrible had happened.
He walked into the kitchen.
The same place where everything ended.
The broken crystal vase had already been cleaned away.
But Daniel could still see it.
The moment.
The fear.
The truth.
Clara entered quietly.
“Mr. Whitmore?”
Daniel turned.
“Did my father trust Victoria?”
Clara looked confused.
“Your father?”
“Yes.”
She thought for a moment.
“Not at first.”
Daniel looked interested.
“Why?”
“Because he was careful.”
“Did he ever suspect her?”
Clara hesitated.
Then reached into her bag.
“I found this after your mother asked me to look through some old files.”
She handed him a small envelope.
Daniel opened it.
Inside was a handwritten letter.
From his father.
The date was two months before his death.
Daniel read the first line.
And immediately felt his heartbeat change.
“My son, if you are reading this, then I was right to be afraid.”
Daniel stopped.
His hands tightened around the paper.
The letter continued.
“Someone inside this family is trying to destroy everything I built.”
Daniel looked up.
Clara whispered:
“There’s more.”
He kept reading.
“I don’t know who I can trust. But if anything happens to me, look at the people who arrived after my success… not the people who were there before it.”
Daniel’s eyes moved down the page.
Then he saw the final sentence.
The sentence that changed everything.
“Daniel, your wife is not who she says she is.”
The room became silent.
Daniel slowly lowered the letter.
Because his father had written this…
Three years before.
Before Daniel knew anything.
Before anyone suspected Victoria.
Before the mask fell.
Then his phone rang.
Unknown number.
Daniel answered.
A woman’s voice whispered.
“Daniel…”
He froze.
He knew that voice.
Victoria.
“How did you get this number?”
“Because you still don’t understand what’s happening.”
Daniel gripped the phone.
“You tried to destroy my family.”
“No.”
Her voice cracked.
“I tried to stop something worse.”
Daniel laughed coldly.
“You expect me to believe that?”
A pause.
Then Victoria said:
“Your father didn’t die in an accident.”
Daniel stopped breathing.
“What?”
“He was murdered.”
The line went silent.
Then she added:
“And the person who ordered it…”
A pause.
“Is someone you still trust.”
The call ended.
Daniel stood alone in the kitchen.
Holding a letter from his dead father.

And realizing the woman he hated…
