Chapter 12 - THE WAREHOUSE OF SECRETS

The old warehouse stood on the edge of the city.
Broken windows.
Rusting metal.
No lights.
No security.
Exactly the kind of place someone chose when they wanted secrets to disappear.
Daniel parked outside.
Michael had begged him not to go alone.
The police had warned him.
Everyone had warned him.
But Daniel knew something.
Robert Voss wanted him there.
And if he wanted answers…
He had to walk into the trap.
The warehouse door opened slowly.
Inside, darkness surrounded him.
“Robert?”
No answer.
Daniel walked deeper.
His footsteps echoed.
Then a voice came from the shadows.
“You came.”
Daniel stopped.
Robert Voss stepped forward.
Older than his photographs.
But still carrying the same cold confidence.
“You ruined my life.”
Daniel stared.
“You destroyed yours.”
Robert smiled.
“Still defending your father?”
“You murdered him.”
The smile disappeared.
For the first time, Robert looked angry.
“Careful.”
Daniel stepped closer.
“You manipulated Victoria.”
“You think she was innocent?”
“No.”
Daniel looked directly at him.
“But she was your weapon.”
Robert laughed.
“Everyone is a weapon if you know their weakness.”
Daniel clenched his fists.
“Where is the evidence?”
Robert smiled.
“You mean your father’s recording?”
“Yes.”
“You really think your father was smarter than me?”
A loud sound suddenly echoed.
The warehouse doors slammed shut.
Daniel turned.
Locked.
Robert stepped backward.
“You made the same mistake your father made.”
Daniel looked at him.
“What mistake?”
“Thinking the truth saves people.”
The lights flickered on.
And Daniel froze.
Because on the wall behind Robert…
Were photographs.
Hundreds of them.
His family.
His mother.
His father.
Him.
Victoria.
Everyone.
Watching.
Tracking.
Controlling.
Robert smiled.
“Your father discovered too much.”
Daniel stared.
“And you killed him.”
Robert didn’t answer.
Instead, he pressed a button.
A screen turned on.
A video appeared.
Richard Whitmore.
Daniel’s father.
Alive.
The recording was dated three years ago.
The night before his death.
Daniel stepped closer.
His father looked terrified.
And then Richard spoke.
“If anything happens to me…”
He looked directly into the camera.
“Daniel, do not trust anyone.”
The video paused.
Then a second figure appeared beside him.
A person Daniel recognized.
Someone he never expected.
Someone who changed everything.
Daniel whispered:
“No…”
May you like
Because standing beside his father in the final recording…
Was the person who had helped raise him.
