Chapter 19 - Dawn Over the Harbor
An hour before sunrise, the harbor had been cleared, and the rival bosses had quickly pledged their absolute, renewed loyalty to the undisputed Don of the city, Julian Rossi.
Julian walked out of the warehouse into the fresh, cold morning breeze blowing off the ocean. He threw his gun onto the passenger seat of his sedan and drove to the safehouse located half a mile away overlooking the water.
He opened the door quietly. The apartment was bathed in the warm, golden hues of the rising sun.
Elena was standing by the large glass window overlooking the ocean, holding baby Leo in her arms. Hearing the door open, she turned around quickly, her breath catching in her throat.
Julian walked into the room, taking off his suit jacket and tossing it aside. He looked tired, his eyes heavy with the weight of the war he had just finished, but as his eyes landed on Elena and his son, the darkness vanished completely from his face.
"It's done," Julian said softly. "The city is secure. The snake is gone."

Elena let out a long, shuddering sigh, tears of pure joy pooling in her eyes. She walked slowly toward him. "You came back to us."
"I will always come back to you," Julian promised, his voice thick with emotion.
