Chapter 18 - Justice in the Dark

Marcus's personal bodyguards reached for their weapons, but they were vastly outnumbered. Before they could clear their holsters, a hail of gunfire erupted from Julian’s loyalists, dropping the guards where they stood.

Marcus scrambled backward, tripping over a chair and crashing to the ground. He crawled desperately toward a side exit, grabbing a fallen pistol.

Julian didn't rush. He walked toward Marcus with cold, deliberate steps.

"Julian, wait! Please!" Marcus begged, flipping onto his back and pointing his gun at Julian with trembling hands. "We were brothers! Your father loved me like a son!"

"My father is the one who taught me how to put down mad dogs," Julian said coldly.

BANG.

Julian fired a single, precise shot, disarming Marcus instantly. Marcus screamed in pain, clutching his shattered hand.

Julian stood directly over him, looking down with intense, icy judgment. "You made one fatal mistake, Marcus. You thought my son was my weakness. But he gave me something worth burning the whole world down for."

Without another word, Julian raised his weapon and pulled the trigger.

The thunderous shot echoed through the massive warehouse, followed by an absolute, heavy silence. The rebellion was over. The King of the city had reclaimed his throne.
