Chapter 10 - A New Dawn

The early morning sun broke through the dissipating storm clouds, casting golden rays of light through the tall leaded glass windows of the estate. The rain had washed the air clean, and the suffocating tension that had gripped the Vance mansion for years had vanished into the morning breeze.

Elena sat at the heavy oak dining table, the legal documents signed and witnessed by Marcus’s personal attorney, who had arrived at dawn.

For the first time in four months, she wasn't wearing a maid’s apron. She wore a simple, warm cashmere sweater, holding Leo securely in her lap while the little boy cooed happily, grabbing playfully at the silver spoon on her plate.

Marcus walked into the room wearing casual clothes—a rare sight for the usually untouchable billionaire. He poured himself a cup of coffee and stood beside the table, watching the way Leo smiled up at Elena.

"The court hearing to finalize the name change is scheduled for next Friday," Marcus said, a genuine, rare smile touching the corners of his lips. "Leo Vance will officially have his mother’s name on his birth record."

"Thank you, Marcus," Elena said, her eyes shining with peace. "For believing me. For fighting for us."

"We fought for each other," Marcus said, placing a gentle hand on her shoulder. "The Vance family name used to be a curse in this town, Elena. But starting today, we write our own rules."

Elena looked down at Leo, who let out a bright, joyful giggle that echoed through the vast, quiet halls of the grand estate. The shadows of greed, deceit, and cruelty were finally gone, replaced by the unbreakable bond of a mother who had fought through hell to claim what was rightfully hers.
