Chapter 6 - The Price of a Granddaughter
Sebastián didn’t turn.
His daughter cried softly in front of him.
“You took my child.”
Alejandro’s voice remained calm.
“I protected her.”
“From her mother?”
“From both of you.”
Sebastián slowly turned.
His father looked older than he remembered.
But not weaker.
“What happens at midnight?”
Alejandro smiled.
“So Gabriel told you.”
“What happens?”
“The Alcázar trust recognizes the first granddaughter of the direct male line.”
Sebastián stared at him.
“Why?”
“Your grandfather never trusted me.”
“That makes two of us.”
Alejandro ignored it.
“The trust transfers controlling voting rights to the child.”
“She’s hours old.”
“Which means her legal guardian controls those rights.”
Sebastián understood.
“You needed Valeria declared incompetent.”
“Yes.”
“And me?”
Alejandro smiled sadly.
“You already signed.”
“The signature is forged.”
“Prove it.”
Sebastián looked at his daughter.
Then back at his father.
“Where is Valeria?”
“With Gabriel.”
“Why?”
Alejandro’s expression changed.
“Because Gabriel has waited six years for her.”
Sebastián went still.
“What does that mean?”
His father smiled.

And the next secret was worse than the last.
“Ask your wife who she was supposed to marry first.”
