CHAPTER 2 – The Man Running for the Exit
The electronic locks slammed shut.
Every glass door locked at once.
The man near the exit started running.
"Stop him!"
Security rushed forward.
The man shoved two guests aside and sprinted toward the service hallway.
Victor pointed.
"Alive!"
Three guards chased him.
Sophia watched without blinking.
"He's only a courier."
Victor looked down.
"You know him?"
"I followed him for six months."
Her breathing became uneven.
"He wasn't the mastermind."
Medical staff finally reached her.
One nurse gasped after seeing the bruises covering her ribs.
"She needs surgery."
Sophia shook her head.
"No hospital."
Victor stared.
"You're dying."
"If I disappear now..."
"...they erase everything."
She handed him the memory card.
"Don't plug it into your network."
Victor frowned.
"Why?"
"They're already inside your system."
His eyes widened.
Meanwhile...
The fleeing man crashed into the underground parking garage.
A black SUV suddenly appeared.
Its rear door swung open.
Someone inside fired a silenced pistol.
One shot.
The courier collapsed instantly.
Dead.
The SUV disappeared before security reached him.
Back in the lobby...
Victor received the radio report.
His face lost all color.
"They silenced him."
Sophia closed her eyes.
"They always do."
Then she whispered one sentence that made Victor's blood run cold.
"The traitor is standing beside you."
Victor slowly turned.
