Chapter 20 - A NEW CONTRACT

Three months later.

The golden autumn sun shone brightly over a quiet, picturesque coastal town thousands of miles away.

Leaves of red and gold drifted gently through the crisp, clean air.

Near a cozy wooden cottage close to the beach, a tall man stood near an easel, painting the ocean horizon.

The deep scar across his cheek was still visible, but his face no longer carried the heavy burden of death.

He wore a simple flannel shirt and jeans, looking like any normal father enjoying a quiet afternoon.

A school bus pulled up to the edge of the dirt driveway, its yellow doors squeaking open.

A little girl in a blue dress with shiny white shoes skipped down the steps, holding a folder of schoolwork.

"Daddy! Look what I drew today in art class!" Lily shouted happily, running across the green lawn.

Victor put down his paintbrush, a warm, genuine smile filling his face as he knelt down.

Lily sprinted into his open arms, hugging his neck with all the strength in her tiny body.

"Show me, little heart," Victor said gently, lifting her up easily into his arms.

Lily pulled out a fresh piece of paper from her folder and proudly held it up to the warm sunlight.

On the paper was a crude drawing of a tall man with a cheek scar holding hands with a little girl under a bright yellow sun.

At the bottom of the paper, in messy crayon letters, were written three simple words: Best Daddy Ever.

Victor looked at the drawing, feeling a profound warmth spread through his entire soul.

"Is this a new contract?" Victor asked softly, his eyes shining with pure happiness.

Lily nodded enthusiastically, wrapping her arms tightly around his neck.

"Yes! And it lasts forever!" she squealed with joy.

Victor kissed her forehead gently, holding her tight as he looked out over the vast, calm ocean.

The cold-blooded killer named Victor was dead, buried forever beneath the ashes of his dark past.

In his place stood a father, bound by a contract forged not by blood or money, but by pure love.

Together, they walked slowly up the porch steps into their cozy home, leaving the shadows far behind.
