Chapter 15 - THE HARBOR OF BLOOD

Night had fallen over the city docks by the time Victor reached Warehouse 4.

Dark waves crashed violently against the wooden rust-covered piers.

Fog hung thick over the harbor, obscuring the giant shipping containers stacked like maze walls.

Victor parked his vehicle three blocks away, keeping the headlights dark.

He checked his equipment in the dim interior light of the car.

He had Vance's pistol with eight rounds left, a tactical knife, and two flashbang grenades.

Lily sat in the passenger seat, wrapped in his oversized suit coat, watching him intently.

"Is this where the big monster lives?" she asked quietly.

Victor turned to her, placing his large hand gently on top of her head.

"This is where the monsters go away forever," Victor promised her softly.

He pulled a silver medallion on a chain from his pocket—an old trinket Elena had given him years ago.

He placed it around Lily's neck, tucking it safely inside her dress.

"If I don't come out of that warehouse in twenty minutes, press this red button on the dashboard," Victor instructed.

"It will send an emergency signal directly to the local police department."

Lily looked at him with big, watery eyes, her tiny hands clutching the silver medallion.

"Don't leave me, Daddy," she whimpered, tears spilling down her cheeks.

Victor felt a sharp, agonizing stab in his chest, deeper than any bullet wound he had ever suffered.

He leaned down and kissed her forehead gently, his voice thick with emotion.

"A father always comes back," Victor whispered softly against her skin.

"I gave you my word, didn't I?"

Lily nodded slowly, wiping her eyes with the oversized coat sleeve.

"I'll wait right here," she promised quietly.

Victor stepped out of the car into the freezing rain, closing the door softly behind him.

He pulled his collar up and vanished into the thick fog, moving like a ghost toward Warehouse 4.

Heavy spotlights illuminated the front entrance of the massive corrugated iron building.

At least a dozen heavily armed mercenaries stood guard outside, patrolling the perimeter with dogs.

Inside, the faint glow of computer monitors shone through the dusty upper windows.

Salvatore was inside, preparing to wipe the servers and flee the country forever.

Victor drew his pistol, slipping into the shadows behind a stack of rusted steel shipping containers.

His scar throbbed violently in the damp air as he prepared for his final, deadliest assault.

"Five minutes," Victor whispered to himself, eyeing the guards.

"I have five minutes to end a lifetime of sins."

He tossed a flashbang grenade straight into the middle of the guard patrol.
