Chapter 13 - THE ULTIMATE BETRAYAL

Victor stopped five paces away from Vance, his empty gun held low at his side.
The cold wind whipped through the narrow alley, carrying the smell of rain and smoke.
Lily clung tightly to Victor's neck, sensing the deadly tension in the air.
"Salvatore told me everything, Vance," Victor said quietly.
"He told me you sold Elena out six months ago."
Vance didn't flinch; her hand remained steady, pointing the gun at his heart.
"Elena was a fool, Victor," Vance sneered, dropping her heroic facade completely.
"She thought she could change the system from the inside."
"She thought a cold-blooded assassin like you could save her and her bastard child."
"The money in that Swiss account is worth two hundred million dollars."
"I earned every single cent of it."
Victor took a slow, deliberate step forward, ignoring the gun pointed at him.
"You killed her mother," Victor said, his voice dropping to a terrifying whisper.
"And you tried to use this innocent child to get the key."
"Don't take another step, Victor!" Vance ordered loudly, her finger tightening on the trigger.
"I will put a bullet through your head before you can move!"
Victor didn't stop; he took another heavy step toward her.
"You should have killed me six months ago, Vance," Victor said.
Suddenly, a loud gunshot echoed through the alleyway.
A red spot of blood bloomed on Vance’s shoulder as she gasped in pain and stumbled back.
She dropped her pistol, clutching her bleeding shoulder in utter shock.
Victor didn't fire the shot; his gun was empty.
From the dark entrance of the alley, Marcus stepped out, holding a smoking sniper rifle.
His face was bruised and bloody from last night's crash, but his eyes were sharp.
"I told you I was coming back for my cut, Vance," Marcus said with a dark grin.
Vance scrambled on the wet asphalt, trying to reach her fallen weapon.
Marcus pulled the bolt on his rifle, chambering another heavy round.
"Nobody gets the two hundred million except me," Marcus warned, aiming at Vance.
Victor took advantage of the distraction, rushing forward to grab Vance’s fallen gun.
He snatched the weapon from the wet pavement and spun around to face Marcus.
Two deadliest allies turned enemies were now locked in a standoff in the cold alley.
"Drop the rifle, Marcus!" Victor commanded fiercely.

"Not a chance, brother," Marcus replied with a cold smile.
"Shoot her, or shoot me. You can't kill us both before one of us kills the kid."
