Chapter 3: The Security Footage
Briggs stumbled backward.
"This is ridiculous."
"She's lying."
Evelyn never argued.
Instead...
she simply looked toward the reception desk.
"Would you play the security footage?"
The receptionist nodded nervously.
Within seconds...
every screen inside the lobby displayed the recording.
Everyone watched Briggs mock Evelyn.
Block her entrance.
Threaten her.
Grab her arm.
The audio echoed through the building.
"You don't belong here."
Employees lowered their eyes.
Some looked ashamed.
Others looked furious.
Nathan watched the footage without expression.
When it ended...
he quietly asked,
"Mr. Briggs."
"Is that your hand?"
Briggs couldn't answer.
Richard turned toward Human Resources.
"Effective immediately..."
"Terminate his employment."
Briggs exploded.
"You can't fire me!"
"I've worked here twelve years!"
Richard answered calmly.
"No."
"You worked here until thirty seconds ago."
Security officers approached.
