Chapter 12 - The Secret Vault

Dr. Vance grabbed a fresh syringe filled with clear fluid, holding it like a dagger as he turned to Maria.

"Don't come any closer!" Maria yelled, holding her iron wrench high in the air.

"I'll cave your skull in!"

"He's going to ruin us all!" Dr. Vance screamed, stepping closer with a trembling hand.

"I have a family!"

"I can't go to prison!"

Suddenly, Emily stood up from the iron chair on shaky, uncertain legs.

Her knees buckled, but she caught herself against the edge of the metal table.

She grabbed a glass beaker from the tray and shattered it against the edge of the iron stand.

Holding the jagged glass stem in her hand, Emily lunged forward with a furious, gut-wrenching scream.

She drove the broken glass deep into Dr. Vance’s shoulder.

Dr. Vance shrieked in agony, dropping the syringe as he collapsed against the cold brick wall.

Blood soaked through his white lab coat as he clutched his wound, whimpering in shock.

Emily stood over him, breathing heavily, her eyes burning with pure, ruthless fury.

"You... poisoned... me," Emily wheezed out, her voice growing stronger with every breath.

"You... destroyed... my... life."

Across the room, a loud crack echoed as Julian hit Arthur across the face with his elbow.

Arthur groaned, slumping backward against the heavy iron door of his private vault.

Julian scrambled up, grabbing the black revolver from the floor and pointing it straight at Arthur's chest.

"Don't move," Julian panted, his chest heaving as blood trickled from his lip.

"It's over, Arthur."

Arthur wiped blood from his mouth, looking at the gun barrel, then at Emily standing on her own feet.

Instead of showing fear, a horrific, twisted smile spread across Arthur’s bloody face.

"Is it really over, lawyer?" Arthur sneered softly, reaching slowly behind his back.

"You have no idea who you are actually dealing with."
