Julian confronted Cassandra.
She did not deny it anymore.
“I was afraid.”
“Afraid of what?”
“Losing you.”
Julian stared at her.
“You already lost me.”
Cassandra cried.
But Julian noticed something.
Her tears came too late.
Three years too late.
She admitted she had hidden Elena because she believed Elena would take him away.
But she claimed she had never tried to hurt him.
“I saved you from your family.”
Julian froze.
“My family?”
Cassandra revealed the darkest secret.
The Sterling empire was not as clean as everyone believed.
His father and uncle had been involved in illegal business deals.
Julian had discovered everything.
And he planned to expose them.
The accident happened days before he was going to release the evidence.
Emily looked shocked.
“Then Elena…”
Cassandra closed her eyes.
“She disappeared after Julian’s accident.”
Julian felt his chest tighten.
“Where is she?”
Nobody answered.
Then Emily slowly said:
“She’s alive.”
