Chapter 2: The Life Cassandra Erased

Julian left the reception before the ceremony officially ended.

The wedding that was supposed to be the happiest day of his life had become a nightmare.

Inside the Sterling mansion, he stood in the study staring at the photograph.

The woman from the catering staff introduced herself as Emily Carter.

She was not a stranger.

She was someone from his past.

Someone Cassandra had erased.

“You were a different man before the accident,” Emily explained.

Julian looked at the picture.

In it, he was younger.

Happier.

Standing beside a woman with a small child in her arms.

“Who is she?”

Emily hesitated.

“Her name was Elena.”

Julian’s breathing stopped.

The name created another memory.

A kitchen.

A woman's laughter.

A promise ring.

A voice saying:

"Promise me you won't forget me."

Julian stepped backward.

“No
”

Emily’s eyes filled with sadness.

“You loved her.”

Cassandra entered the room.

“You’re lying.”

Everyone turned.

She stood at the doorway, still wearing her wedding dress.

“You have no idea what you’re doing to him.”

Emily looked at her.

“You stole his life.”

Cassandra’s face hardened.

“I saved his life.”

The room became silent.

Julian looked between them.

“What does that mean?”

Cassandra’s eyes softened.

“Julian, after your accident, doctors said your memory might never return.”

She walked toward him.

“You had no one.”

A pause.

“I was there.”

Julian looked confused.

“Then why didn't you tell me about Elena?”

Cassandra said nothing.

And that silence was the answer.

Julian’s heart sank.

May you like

Because sometimes the truth is not hidden in words.

It is hidden in what someone refuses to say.
