Chapter 2 - THE COMMANDER'S WRATH

The heavy wooden debris from the shattered entrance rained down across the white marble foyer below.
A tall, broad figure burst through the rising cloud of dust and splintered wood.
Admiral Vance Miller stepped into the upper hallway, looking like an unstoppable force of nature.
He wore his pristine white naval officer service dress uniform, stark against the shadowy environment.
The gold braid on his shoulder boards caught the ambient warm light of the hallway sconces.
His face was an icy, impenetrable mask of absolute, lethal military focus.
Directly behind him stepped a massive man wearing a dark blue tactical raincoat over a black turtleneck.
The second man carried no visible weapon, yet his posture radiated lethal experience and cold intent.
Ethan stood frozen in the center of the living room, his silver cane still suspended mid-air.
"What is the meaning of this?!" Ethan screeched, his voice cracking into a high-pitched whine.
"How did you bypass the perimeter fence?!"
Admiral Miller did not grant him the dignity of an answer.
He did not slow his pace, closing the distance between the hallway and the dining room in three swift strides.
"Release my daughter," Admiral Miller commanded, his voice a low, gravelly baritone that vibrated through the floorboards.
Driven by sudden panic, Ethan swung his heavy silver cane with full force toward the Admiral’s head.
The Admiral didn't even flinch.
With lightning-fast speed forged through decades of naval combat experience, he raised his left forearm.
The heavy silver cane struck the Admiral's heavy sleeve with a dull thud, but the officer did not yield an inch.
Before Ethan could pull the weapon back, Admiral Miller’s right hand shot forward like a steel trap.
He clamped his broad palm around Ethan's throat, cutting off his airway instantly.
With a sharp twist of his wrist, the Admiral forced Ethan's arm backward, snapping the joint until the cane dropped.
The silver handle clattered loudly against the dark hardwood floor, rolling harmlessly under the table.
Ethan let out a strangled gasp, his eyes bulging as he clawed helplessly at the Admiral’s iron grip.
"You laid your hands on my blood," Admiral Miller whispered coldly, stepping into Ethan's personal space.
With a fluid, devastating motion, the Admiral shoved Ethan downward with unrelenting force.
Ethan’s body flew backward, his face slamming violently against the hard edge of the dark oak dining table.
A sickening crack filled the room as Ethan’s nose broke against the polished wood.
Ethan dropped to his knees, clutching his bleeding face, gasping wildly for air.
The Admiral didn't give him a single second to recover.
He drove his heavy knee directly into Ethan's ribs, pinning the younger man flat against the floorboards.
Ethan grunted in agonizing pain, his face pressed sideways into the rug, blood smearing across the pattern.
"Stay down, or the next bone I break will be your neck," the Admiral hissed near Ethan's ear.
Rachel pulled little Lily tightly against her chest, tears flowing freely down her pale cheeks.
"Dad..." Rachel gasped out, her entire body shaking from the sudden release of built-up adrenaline.
"Dad, you made it..."
The Admiral lifted his head slightly, his fierce gaze softening the moment his eyes rested on his daughter.
"I'm here, sweetheart," he said softly, his voice trembling with rare emotional warmth.
"Nobody is going to hurt you or Lily ever again."
Ethan twisted his bloody face upward from the floorboards, his teeth stained crimson as he glared at the old officer.
"Who do you think you are?!" Ethan spat, coughing up blood onto the rug.
"You can't just break into a private residence! You have no jurisdiction here!"
"Now!" the Admiral called out over his shoulder, completely ignoring Ethan's pathetic protests.
The sound of heavy tactical boots echoed down the hallway once again.
Four heavily armed tactical operators wearing black body armor and night-vision helmets swept into the room.
Their submachine guns were raised, instantly securing all entry points and covering the window angles.
The broad-shouldered man in the dark blue raincoat stepped forward, looking down at Ethan with complete disgust.
"Target is subdued," the agent in the raincoat reported into a small wrist communicator.
"Clear the perimeter and bring up the transport vehicle."
The tactical team moved with practiced efficiency, roughing Ethan up as they pulled his arms violently behind his back.
A pair of heavy steel handcuffs snapped around Ethan's wrists with a harsh metallic click.
"How did you break the security grid?" Ethan dragged out the words through his swollen lips as he was hauled to his feet.
"The master code was changed ten minutes ago! It was an encrypted 256-bit rotating key!"
"He knew the emergency code," Rachel stammered, her voice shaking violently as she leaned against the wall.
"Dad... he knew the private naval emergency code."
"The code you gave me three years ago... he used it to lock the interior doors from the inside."
The Admiral turned his head slowly, his eyes locking onto his daughter's pale face.
The room grew so quiet that the faint sound of wind outside sounded like a roar.
"He shouldn't have known that code," the Admiral said, his tone dropping into a dangerously low register.
"That wasn't just a personal family code, Rachel."
"It was a classified level-four naval intelligence override protocol."
Ethan let out a ragged, bloody chuckle from between the two tactical officers holding him in place.
"You think I'm just some jealous husband, Admiral?" Ethan sneered, wiping blood from his mouth onto his grey shoulder.
"You think I acted alone in this?"
The Admiral slowly reached into his own dress coat pocket and pulled out a small black electronic receiver.
The screen on the receiver was flashing bright green, displaying a rapid sequence of incoming encrypted coordinates.
"Rachel sent the code before you even touched her," the Admiral said coldly, holding the blinking screen in front of Ethan's face.
"And the broadcast signal didn't route through your jammed local tower."
Ethan's smug expression slowly began to fracture.
"What are you talking about?" Ethan demanded, his confidence finally beginning to slip away.
May you like
"The signal was picked up and authorized by a private satellite relay," the Admiral revealed.
"A relay located directly inside Naval Command Headquarters."
