Detective Collins looked at Elena.
“What is she talking about?”
Elena remained silent.
The room waited.
Finally, she whispered:
“My name was not always Elena Vale.”
Everyone froze.
Victoria smiled.
“I knew it.”
Elena looked down.
“Seven years ago, I was someone else.”
She explained that before marrying into the Vale family, she worked as an investigative journalist.
She had uncovered illegal financial activities connected to powerful families.
Including the Harringtons.
Victoria’s father had been involved.
And when Elena got too close to the truth…
Someone tried to silence her.
“They destroyed my career,” Elena said.
“They threatened my family.”
“And they made everyone believe I disappeared.”
Rosa covered her mouth.
She remembered.
