Chapter 20 - A NEW DAWN

The morning sun broke through the heavy storm clouds, casting a warm golden light over the city.
The old textile factory was now nothing more than a smoldering pile of black rubble and twisted steel.
Fire engines and police vehicles lined the surrounding streets, their emergency lights flashing quietly.
Ethan sat on the open back bumper of an ambulance, a white blanket wrapped securely around his shoulders.
A paramedic finished bandaging his arm and stepped away to give him space.
Ethan held his phone in his hands, watching the morning news broadcast streaming live on the screen.
The federal authorities had officially announced the dismantling of an international intelligence and extortion ring.
Every operative, every corrupt official, and every handler named in his father’s drive was currently being rounded up across the globe.
The nightmare was finally finished.
A white car pulled up to the police perimeter and stopped.
The door flew open, and a little girl jumped out, running as fast as her small legs could carry her across the damp pavement.
“Daddy!” she cried out, her voice bright and clear in the crisp morning air.
Ethan dropped his blanket, stood up, and dropped to his knees on the concrete.
The little girl threw her arms tightly around his neck, burying her face into his chest.
Ethan wrapped his arms around her, holding her so close he could feel her steady heart beating against his own.
Tears of pure relief finally welled up in his eyes and ran down his tired face.
Maria stepped out of the car behind her, carrying a thermos of warm tea, a gentle, comforting smile on her face.
Viktor walked over, standing beside Ethan and looking down at the young family with a quiet sense of pride.
“Marcus is going to make it,” Viktor said softly, breaking the quiet moment.
Ethan looked up, his eyes widening with unexpected joy.
“What?” Ethan gasped.
“The paramedics found a pulse under the catwalk,” Viktor explained with a faint grin.
“He lost a lot of blood, but the surgeons at the hospital just stabilized him an hour ago.”
“He’s going to live, Ethan.”
Ethan let out a long, shaky breath, laughing through his tears.
He pulled his daughter even closer, kissing the side of her head gently.
The dark shadows of his family’s past were finally gone.
The lies, the fear, and the violence had burnt away with the storm.
May you like
He stood up, holding his daughter tightly in his arms, and turned his back on the smoking ruins of the factory.
They walked together toward the morning light, ready to build a life built on nothing but the truth.
