CHAPTER 2 — The Secret Elena Was Forced To Hide

The police arrived at the mansion before midnight.
Vivian Moretti was no longer treated like the owner of the house.
She was a suspect.
But Alejandro knew something was wrong.
Because Elena wasn’t celebrating.
She wasn’t relieved.
She was terrified.
He found her sitting alone in the old library.
The same room where they used to drink coffee every morning.
Except now…
She looked like a stranger inside her own memories.
“Elena.”
She looked up.
Alejandro sat beside her.
Not as a powerful businessman.
Not as the owner of the mansion.
Just as her husband.
“You don’t have to be afraid anymore.”
Elena looked away.
“I should have told you everything.”
Alejandro frowned.
“Everything about what?”
A long silence followed.
Then Elena whispered:
“The night I disappeared…”
She swallowed.
“I wasn’t kidnapped.”
Alejandro froze.
“What?”
Elena’s eyes filled with tears.
“Vivian didn’t take me from the street.”
“She took me from this house.”
Alejandro felt a chill.
“Why?”
Elena looked at the floor.
“Because I discovered something.”
“What?”
“She was stealing money from your company.”
Alejandro’s expression changed.
Elena continued.
“She used fake accounts. Fake contracts. She was moving millions.”
“And when I found out…”
Her voice trembled.
“She told me nobody would believe me.”
Alejandro clenched his fists.
“She tried to silence you.”
Elena nodded.
“But that wasn’t the worst part.”
She looked at him.
“Your father knew.”
Alejandro froze.
“My father?”
Elena nodded slowly.
“Your father knew Vivian was dangerous.”
A painful realization hit him.
His father had died two years ago.
Before Alejandro could find Elena.
Before he knew the truth.
“Why didn’t he tell me?”
Elena whispered:
“Because Vivian threatened him too.”
The room became silent.
Alejandro looked toward the window.
Three years.
Three years of searching.
Three years of believing he failed.
But the truth was worse.
His own family had been destroyed from inside.
Suddenly, Alejandro’s phone rang.
His lawyer.
“Mr. Castillo, we found something.”
Alejandro answered immediately.
“What?”
“We discovered hidden security footage from the mansion.”
His eyes narrowed.
“Send it.”
Minutes later, the footage appeared on the laptop.
The video showed Elena being dragged through a hidden hallway.
By Vivian’s men.
Then another figure appeared.
Someone Alejandro recognized.
Someone he never expected.
His uncle.
Marco Castillo.
Alejandro stood frozen.
“No…”
His lawyer’s voice came through the phone.
“Your uncle helped Vivian hide Elena.”
Alejandro slowly closed the laptop.
His expression changed completely.
The pain disappeared.
Only determination remained.
“They didn’t just hurt my wife.”
He looked at Elena.
“They stole three years of our lives.”
Then he stood.
“And now…”
May you like
His voice became cold.
“They are going to answer for every single day.”
