Chapter 1: The Woman They Said Was Gone

The mansion was silent after Adrian walked away from Victoria and toward Elena.

For years, he had lived with one unbearable truth.

Or at least, what he believed was the truth.

Elena was dead.

Their child was gone.

That was the story Victoria had told him on the darkest night of his life.

Five years earlier, Adrian had been preparing to marry Elena, the woman who had loved him before his money, before his company, before his powerful name.

She had loved him when he was just a young man building his future.

When Elena became pregnant, Adrian was happier than he had ever been.

He remembered placing his hand over her stomach and whispering:

“Our baby will have everything we never had.”

But three months later, everything collapsed.

Victoria, Adrian’s childhood friend, had arrived at his office crying.

“She had an accident,” Victoria told him.

“Doctors tried everything.”

“She lost the baby.”

“She didn’t survive.”

Adrian remembered falling to his knees.

He remembered screaming Elena’s name until his voice disappeared.

But he never saw her body.

Victoria told him the funeral was private.

She told him Elena’s family wanted no one there.

And Adrian, drowning in grief, believed her.

Years passed.

Victoria stayed beside him.

She convinced him that Elena had been a painful chapter of his past.

Eventually, she became the woman standing beside him in public.

But she never knew one thing.

Adrian never truly stopped loving Elena.

And now…

Elena was standing in front of him.

Alive.

Pregnant.

And carrying proof that Victoria had destroyed his entire life.

Adrian slowly reached for the ultrasound picture.

His fingers trembled.

He looked at the faded image.

Then he turned it over.

The handwriting immediately caught his attention.

“Our child is still alive.”

His breathing stopped.

“Elena…”

Her eyes filled with tears.

“I tried to find you.”

Victoria immediately stepped between them.

“Adrian, don't listen to her.”

Her voice became sharper.

“She disappeared because she wanted money.”

“She knew you were successful, and now she came back.”

But Adrian finally looked at Victoria.

And for the first time in years…

He didn’t see the woman who saved him.

He saw the woman who destroyed him.

“Where is the hospital record?” he asked.

Victoria froze.

“What?”

“The record,” Adrian repeated.

“The death certificate.”

“The medical report.”

“If Elena died, you must have them.”

Silence filled the hallway.

Victoria’s face changed.

Just slightly.

But Adrian noticed.

He noticed everything.

Because the woman standing in front of him was no longer confident.

She was afraid.

The next morning, Adrian’s private investigator arrived.

The truth came back faster than anyone expected.

There was no death certificate.

No funeral record.

No hospital report.

Nothing.

Instead, they discovered something hidden.

Five years earlier, Elena had been admitted to a small rural clinic under a false name.

She had been injured.

She had been pregnant.

And someone had paid the clinic to erase her records.

That someone was connected to Victoria’s family.

Adrian stared at the documents.

His hands tightened.

“She tried to erase my child.”

The investigator lowered his eyes.

“Yes, Mr. Carter.”

“And she tried to erase Elena.”

Adrian looked toward the mansion window.

Outside, Elena sat quietly in the garden.

The woman he thought he lost.

The mother of his child.

The person who had suffered alone.

And he made a promise.

May you like

“This time…”

“No one will silence her.”
