Police officers entered the boutique.
One officer approached Elena politely.
"Ma'am, we'd like your statement."
Before Elena could answer...
An elderly gentleman hurried through the entrance.
He immediately recognized her.
"Ms. Whitmore."
Every employee straightened.
The manager looked shocked.
"You know her?"
The man stared in disbelief.
"Know her?"
He turned to everyone.
"This is Elena Whitmore."
"The founder of Whitmore Global Investments."
"The woman whose foundation donated fifteen million dollars to New York children's hospitals."
Silence.
The manager's face lost all color.
Customers looked at Elena with completely different eyes.
She had never mentioned who she was.
Never demanded special treatment.
Never tried to intimidate anyone.
She simply wanted to buy her father's birthday gift.
