Chapter 3 â "Everyone Needs to See This Thief!"
Within seconds Chloe was standing only a few feet away.
Her livestream audience had doubled.
She held the phone inches from Elena's face.
"Everyone needs to see this thief!" Chloe yelled.
Thousands of laughing emojis flooded the screen.
"Open your bag!" someone in the livestream comments wrote.
Another customer whispered,
"I knew she didn't belong here."
The store manager hurried over.
"Ma'am," he said carefully, "would you mind allowing us to verify the situation?"
Elena looked at him calmly.
"You may."
No panic.
No anger.
She simply handed him the bag.
The manager slowly opened it.
His face changed.
Inside...
Resting on top of a folded scarf...
Was the missing diamond necklace.
Gasps echoed across the showroom.
"I knew it!" Chloe shouted triumphantly.
"I literally caught her stealing LIVE!"
Comments exploded.
"ARREST HER!"
"Rich-looking thief!"
"This is insane!"
The manager looked heartbroken.
"I'm very sorry, ma'am..."
Elena quietly asked,
"May I ask one question first?"
"What question?"
"Does your security system record every camera in the store?"
The manager blinked.
"...Yes."
