Chapter 2 – The Secret Behind The Boy

Alexander stared at the paper.

His hands started shaking.

The ballroom disappeared around him.

The music.

The guests.

The cameras.

Everything faded.

Because at the bottom of that note was a name he had not heard in eight years.

Sophia.

His wife.

Emma’s mother.

The woman everyone believed had died after a tragic accident.

Alexander looked at Noah.

“Where did you get this?”

The boy lowered his eyes.

“From my mom.”

The crowd whispered.

Some guests exchanged confused looks.

Alexander’s face became pale.

“Your mother…”

Noah nodded slowly.

“She told me if I ever found you, I had to give you this.”

Emma looked between her father and Noah.

“Daddy… do you know him?”

Alexander couldn’t answer.

Because his mind was fighting against what his heart already knew.

He remembered Sophia’s last words before the accident.

“Take care of Emma.”

But there was something else.

Something nobody knew.

Sophia had been pregnant when she disappeared.

The police report had said she lost the baby.

But Alexander had never been able to find proof.

His eyes moved back to Noah.

The messy hair.

The same eyes.

The same small smile Sophia used to have.

“No…”

He whispered.

Noah looked scared.

“I’m sorry.”

Alexander stepped closer.

“You don’t have to apologize.”

His voice broke.

“Tell me your mother’s full name.”

The boy looked at him.

“Sophia Whitmore.”

The room went completely silent.

A woman in the crowd covered her mouth.

Someone dropped a glass.

Alexander closed his eyes.

Eight years.

Eight years believing his wife was gone.

Eight years believing his family had ended.

But standing in front of him was proof that Sophia’s story had never finished.

Emma slowly reached for Noah’s hand.

“You’re my brother?”

Noah looked at her nervously.

“I think so.”

Emma smiled.

A real smile.

The kind her father hadn’t seen in years.

Then Alexander looked at the note again.

There was one final sentence written underneath.

“Alexander, if Noah finds you, it means he needs the family he never had.”

Alexander’s eyes filled with tears.

But before he could say anything…

The ballroom doors suddenly opened.

A man in a black suit walked inside.

“Mr. Whitmore.”

Everyone turned.

The man looked serious.

“We need to talk about Sophia.”

Alexander froze.

“Who are you?”

The stranger slowly removed his glasses.

“My name is Daniel Reeves.”

A pause.

“I was the doctor who treated Sophia after the accident.”

Alexander stepped forward.

“You said she died.”

Daniel looked down.

May you like

“I was forced to say that.”

The entire room gasped.
