Chapter 2 — The First Name on Harrison's List

The ambulance doors slammed shut just as Harrison climbed inside beside his sister.

Doctors surrounded Khloe the moment they reached the trauma center. Her blood pressure continued falling. Every passing minute stole another heartbeat from the child she had fought so desperately to bring into the world.

Outside the operating room, Harrison stood motionless.

Blood from Khloe's hand had dried across the front of his suit.

He never wiped it away.

A young detective approached carefully.

"Mr. Cole... we'd like your statement."

Harrison slowly turned.

"Did the courthouse cameras record everything?"

"Yes."

"Witnesses?"

"More than forty."

"The push?"

"The footage is... unmistakable."

Harrison nodded once.

"Good."

The detective hesitated.

"Vanessa Kensington has retained counsel."

"She'll need more than lawyers."

Those words sent a chill through everyone standing nearby.

Across town, Richard sat inside his luxury SUV with both hands gripping the steering wheel.

His phone vibrated relentlessly.

BOARD MEMBER: Call me immediately.

INVESTOR: Is the courthouse video real?

NEWS ALERT: CEO's Wife Critically Injured Outside County Courthouse.

He ignored every notification.

Instead, he called Vanessa.

She answered on the first ring.

"Richard... please tell me they're exaggerating. She isn't—"

"What exactly did you do?"

Silence.

"I barely touched her."

"You shoved my pregnant wife down thirty stairs."

"I was angry!"

"You may have killed my daughter."

Vanessa burst into tears.

"It wasn't supposed to happen like that."

Richard closed his eyes.

For the first time since marrying Khloe...

Fear replaced arrogance.

Meanwhile, Harrison made one quiet phone call.

"Marcus."

A calm voice answered.

"I've already seen the footage."

"I want everything."

"Everything?"

"Every bank account. Every offshore transfer. Every mistress. Every bribed official. Every hidden contract Richard Harrington has buried in the last twenty years."

A brief pause.

"You think this is about the fall?"

Harrison stared through the ICU window.

"No."

"It's about ending a dynasty."

He ended the call.
