Three days later, a woman arrived at the Whitmore mansion.
Her name was Victoria Hale.
Elegant.
Beautiful.
And strangely familiar.
Margaret introduced her during a family dinner.
“Everyone, meet Victoria.”
Alexander immediately noticed something.
His mother treated Victoria differently.
With respect.
With pride.
With affection.
Something she had never shown Elena.
Elena quietly watched from across the table.
Then Victoria looked at her.
“I’m sorry about what happened.”
Her words sounded polite.
But her eyes were cold.
Alexander noticed.
After dinner, he confronted his mother.
“Who is she?”
Margaret didn’t answer immediately.
Then she said:
“The woman you should have married.”
Alexander froze.
“You’re insane.”
Margaret stepped closer.
“She has the Whitmore blood. She understands our world.”
“And Elena?”
Margaret looked toward the hallway.
“She is a stranger wearing our family name.”
