Chapter 1 — The Fall That Changed Everything

The sound of Elena Whitmore hitting the marble floor was louder than the screams around her.
For a few seconds, nobody moved.
The entire mansion froze.
Thousands of dollars worth of crystal decorations, expensive dresses, and powerful people suddenly became meaningless.
Because lying at the bottom of the grand staircase was the woman everyone had tried to erase.
Elena.
Her emerald-green gown was torn at the shoulder. Her hands trembled as they protected her pregnant belly.
And beside her…
The broken pearls.
The same pearls that were supposed to welcome her into the Whitmore family.
Alexander Whitmore pushed through the crowd.
His face had lost all color.
“Elena…”
He dropped to his knees beside his wife.
“I’m here. Look at me.”
Her eyes slowly opened.
“Alexander…”
Her voice was weak.
“My baby…”
Alexander immediately placed his hand over hers.
“We’re okay. You’re both okay.”
But when he looked up toward the staircase, everything changed.
His mother stood there.
Margaret Whitmore.
The woman who had raised him.
The woman who had built the Whitmore empire.
The woman who had just pushed his pregnant wife down the stairs.
Nobody dared speak.
Margaret simply adjusted her gray suit.
“This is a misunderstanding.”
Alexander stared at her.
A cold silence filled the mansion.
“No.”
His voice was calm.
Too calm.
“I saw what happened.”
Margaret’s expression finally changed.
Only slightly.
“You would accuse your own mother because of this woman?”
Elena closed her eyes.
She had always known Margaret hated her.
But she never imagined the hatred would become this dangerous.
Alexander carefully lifted Elena into his arms.
Then he looked at his mother.
“Tonight, you didn’t attack my wife.”
A pause.
“You attacked my family.”

And everyone knew…
The Whitmore family war had begun.
