CHAPTER 4 — THE WOMAN WHO BUILT HER OWN FUTURE

One year later

The Montrose Global headquarters stood taller than ever.

The company expanded into new markets.

Thousands of employees celebrated record growth.

And at the center

Was Isabella.

A woman who no longer needed anyone’s approval.

She created a foundation supporting women who had lost everything.

Women who were underestimated.

Women who were told they were powerless.

Because Isabella knew exactly what that felt like.

One evening

She stood beside the window of her office.

Looking at the city lights below.

Her assistant entered.

“Mrs. Montrose.”

“There is one final report.”

Isabella turned.

“What is it?”

The assistant placed a document on the desk.

“Damian Cross has started a small business.”

“He is rebuilding.”

Isabella looked at the report.

For a moment, silence filled the room.

Then she smiled.

“Good.”

Her assistant was surprised.

“You’re not angry?”

Isabella shook her head.

“No.”

“Because revenge was never my goal.”

“What was your goal?”

Isabella looked outside.

“To remember who I was.”

Years ago

They laughed when she carried an old leather bag.

They mocked her simple clothes.

They believed money created value.

But they were wrong.

Money never created Isabella Montrose.

Her strength did.

Her intelligence did.

Her courage did.

The empire was never the reason she was powerful.

She was the reason the empire existed.

And Damian Cross learned the hardest lesson of his life:

Sometimes the person you treat like nothing

May you like

Is the person who was holding everything together.
