CHAPTER 2 — THE SECRET SHE HID FOR FOUR YEARS

Damian refused to believe it.

He refused.

“This is a trick.”

His voice echoed through the boardroom.

“You manipulated documents.”

“You created fake ownership.”

Several executives looked uncomfortable.

Isabella remained calm.

“You can keep lying.”

“But the documents don’t.”

She opened the folder.

Inside were contracts.

Investment agreements.

Acquisition records.

Every signature.

Every transaction.

Every billion-dollar decision.

All connected to Isabella.

Four years earlier, when Damian’s company was almost bankrupt

Isabella had secretly purchased the controlling shares.

Not because she wanted power.

Because she loved him.

She remembered the night clearly.

Damian had sat alone in his office.

Broken.

Defeated.

“I built nothing,” he had whispered.

“My father was right.”

“I’m going to lose everything.”

And Isabella had held his hand.

“You won’t lose everything.”

“Because I believe in you.”

What Damian never knew

Was that she was the person who saved him.

Not his investors.

Not his family.

Not his father’s reputation.

Her.

But instead of gratitude

She received humiliation.

Every dinner.

Every holiday.

Every family gathering.

She was reminded she came from nothing.

Damian’s mother Evelyn stood and pointed at her.

“You tricked my son!”

Isabella looked at her.

“No.”

“I protected him.”

Evelyn laughed.

“You expect us to believe you?”

Isabella smiled slightly.

“I don’t need you to believe me.”

She looked toward the screen.

“I only need you to understand.”

The screen changed.

A recording appeared.

It showed Damian secretly meeting Vanessa months earlier.

Their conversations.

Their plans.

Their agreement to remove Isabella from the company after transferring assets.

The entire board watched silently.

Vanessa’s face turned pale.

Damian looked at her.

“You recorded us?”

Isabella shook her head.

“No.”

“Your own security system did.”

“The one I paid for.”

Nobody spoke.

Because now everyone understood.

The woman they underestimated

Had been watching everything.

That evening.

Damian returned to the mansion.

But something felt different.

The security guards didn’t greet him.

The staff avoided eye contact.

He entered the living room.

And froze.

Every expensive painting.

Every luxury item.

Every piece of furniture

Had a small label attached.

PROPERTY OF MONTROSE GLOBAL

Vanessa followed behind him.

“What is happening?”

Damian stared around.

Then his phone rang.

His lawyer.

“Mr. Cross
”

“The mansion ownership has transferred.”

Damian’s heart stopped.

“What?”

“The property was purchased through a Montrose subsidiary.”

“You were living there under a private agreement.”

Silence.

May you like

The mansion he believed was his

Was never his.
