Chapter 2: The Truth Behind The Marriage

Three weeks later.

The courtroom was packed.

Reporters filled every seat.

Nathan sat beside his lawyers, wearing an expensive suit and a confident expression.

He believed money could still save him.

Then Evelyn entered.

The room became silent.

She was no longer the woman who had crawled across the marble floor.

She wore a simple black suit.

Her hair was tied back.

Her posture was straight.

She looked like someone who had survived something impossible.

Nathan watched her carefully.

For the first time...

He looked afraid.

The judge reviewed the evidence.

Then came the final piece.

A financial document.

Nathan frowned.

“What is that?”

Alexander Sterling stood.

“Something my daughter never told you.”

The judge looked at the papers.

“This shows that the entire Blackthorn Manor property was purchased through Sterling Foundation assets.”

Nathan’s face changed.

“No.”

Alexander continued.

“The Ashford Global expansion campaign that created your company’s international success?”

A pause.

“Funded by my daughter.”

The courtroom erupted.

Nathan looked at Evelyn.

“You?”

She looked at him calmly.

“You thought I had nothing.”

“You spent years telling everyone I was lucky to have you.”

“You never realized…”

She stepped closer.

“I was the reason you became powerful.”

Nathan’s breathing became heavier.

Everything he built.

Everything he bragged about.

Everything he used to humiliate her...

Was built on the foundation she created.

The judge continued.

“Mr. Ashford, you are facing charges including financial fraud, assault, conspiracy, and attempted evidence destruction.”

Nathan looked desperate.

Then his eyes moved toward Celeste.

The woman he destroyed his marriage for.

The woman who promised him everything.

But Celeste avoided his gaze.

Because she had already made a deal.

Nathan realized it instantly.

“You betrayed me.”

Celeste smiled coldly.

“No, Nathan.”

“I protected myself.”

The same words he once used against Evelyn.

Now they were being used against him.

Later that evening, Evelyn stood outside Blackthorn Manor.

The mansion was quiet.

For years, she had looked at this place and remembered pain.

Now...

She only saw an empty building.

Her father stood beside her.

“You can sell it.”

Evelyn looked at the house.

“No.”

Alexander raised an eyebrow.

“Then what will you do?”

She smiled slightly.

“I’ll turn it into something they never expected.”

Months later, Blackthorn Manor became the Evelyn Sterling Foundation.

A place helping women escape abusive relationships.

May you like

A place where victims were believed.

A place where nobody had to suffer in silence.
