Chapter 1: The Woman Who Entered Their Broken Home

Three years after losing his first wife, Arthur believed he had finally found a second chance at happiness.
His world had always been built on numbers, contracts, and billion-dollar decisions. But none of those things prepared him for raising a little girl alone.
Lily was only four years old, but she had become the center of his universe.
Every morning, Arthur made her breakfast himself.
Every night, he sat beside her bed and read the same story her mother used to read.
The mansion that once felt cold and empty slowly became alive again because of her laughter.
Then Victoria arrived.
She appeared like a miracle.
She knew exactly how to speak to Arthur. She knew how to impress his business partners. She knew how to stand beside him at charity events and make everyone believe that Arthur had finally healed.
Most importantlyâŠ
She knew how to make Lily trust her.
At least, that was what Arthur believed.
One evening, Arthur returned home earlier than expected.
He found Victoria sitting beside Lily in the living room, brushing the little girlâs hair.
The scene looked perfect.
Almost too perfect.
"You look beautiful, sweetheart," Victoria smiled.
Lily smiled back.
But when Arthur entered the room, Lily suddenly became quiet.
"Everything okay?" Arthur asked.
Victoria looked up.
"Of course. Lily and I were just spending some time together."
Arthur smiled.
But he noticed something strange.
His daughter was holding her mother's old necklace tightly in her tiny hand.
Something she only did when she was scared.
Later that night, Arthur walked past Lilyâs bedroom and heard a whisper.
"Daddy..."
He opened the door.
Lily was sitting in the darkness.
"What happened, princess?"
The little girl looked at him with worried eyes.
"Can Victoria stay somewhere else tonight?"
Arthur froze.
"Why?"
Lily lowered her head.
"Because when you leave the room... she doesn't smile anymore."

For the first time in yearsâŠ
Arthur felt a fear he couldn't explain.
