Chapter 1: The Secret Witness

The courtroom remained frozen after the boy’s trembling finger pointed toward the back row.

Everyone followed his gaze.

And then they saw him.

A wealthy man sitting quietly among the spectators.

Richard Whitmore.

The respected businessman.

The man everyone in town believed was a hero.

The man who had donated millions to charities, built hospitals, and appeared on television as a symbol of kindness.

But the moment the boy pointed at him…

Richard’s face changed.

Only for a second.

But the judge noticed.

The prosecutor noticed.

And most importantly…

The maid noticed.

“Daniel…” she whispered.

The boy looked at her.

His eyes filled with tears.

“I’m sorry,” he said softly.

The courtroom waited.

The judge leaned forward.

“Son, you need to tell us exactly what happened.”

The boy swallowed hard.

His small hands shook as he unfolded the paper he had been hiding.

“It’s a note,” he said.

“A note she wrote before they blamed her.”

The maid covered her mouth.

She remembered that night.

The night everything changed.

The night she had walked into the mansion’s study and found Daniel, Richard’s eight-year-old son, crying on the floor.

The boy had witnessed something he was never supposed to see.

And because of that…

Someone needed to silence him.

The prosecutor carefully took the paper.

“What does it say?”

The boy looked down.

His voice became barely audible.

“It says… ‘If something happens to me, don’t trust Richard.’”

The entire courtroom exploded with whispers.

Richard immediately stood.

“That’s impossible!”

His voice was louder than before.

Almost desperate.

The judge raised his hand.

“Mr. Whitmore, sit down.”

Richard slowly lowered himself back into his chair.

But his eyes never left the boy.

The maid saw it.

That look.

The same cold look she had seen the night she protected Daniel.

The judge looked at the boy.

“Why did you wait until today?”

The boy’s eyes dropped.

“Because he told me…”

He paused.

“He told me if I spoke, she would disappear forever.”

The maid started crying.

Not because she was afraid.

Because she finally understood.

The boy had been carrying this secret alone.

The older man who tried to stop him earlier lowered his head.

He was not trying to protect Richard.

He was Richard’s lawyer.

And now everyone realized why he had been desperate to silence the child.

The judge looked toward Richard.

“For years, you built a reputation as an honest man.”

A pause.

“But today, an eight-year-old child just opened a door you spent years trying to keep closed.”

Richard’s expression hardened.

“This is a lie.”

Then he smiled.

A cold, confident smile.

“Children misunderstand things.”

The boy looked at him.

“No.”

His voice was quiet.

“But I remember.”

The courtroom fell silent.

May you like

Because everyone knew…

The boy was not finished.
