Chapter 2: The Secret Behind Ethan’s Betrayal

The words hit harder than Ethan leaving me at the altar.

Because betrayal was one thing.

But a planned betrayal?

That was something else entirely.

I looked at Ethan.

His face had become pale.

“Dad…”

My father reached into his pocket again.

This time, he pulled out a folder.

He handed it to me.

“What is this?”

“Everything Ethan tried to hide.”

My hands trembled as I opened it.

Inside were documents.

Bank transfers.

Emails.

Private contracts.

And one name appeared everywhere.

Charles Blackwell.

My stomach turned.

Ethan wasn’t just leaving me for Madison.

He had been working with her father for months.

The goal was simple.

Marry into my family.

Gain access to my father’s hidden assets.

Then destroy Keller Global Holdings from inside.

I looked at Ethan.

“Was any of it real?”

For a moment, he said nothing.

And that silence answered everything.

Four years.

Four years of memories.

Four years of promises.

All fake.

Ethan finally spoke.

“You don’t understand.”

I laughed quietly.

“No.”

I closed the folder.

“You’re right.”

“I don’t understand how someone can pretend to love another person for four years.”

Ethan’s expression hardened.

“You think love pays bills?”

“You think loyalty makes you powerful?”

He pointed toward Madison.

“She can give me everything.”

My father stepped forward.

“No.”

Everyone looked at him.

“She can give you money.”

A pause.

“But she cannot give you what you lost today.”

Charles suddenly interrupted.

“You’re making a mistake, Daniel.”

My father looked at him.

“You still don’t understand.”

“What?”

“I didn’t come here to protect my company.”

Charles frowned.

My father looked at me.

“I came here to protect my daughter.”

The room became quiet.

Then something unexpected happened.

Madison started crying.

Not fake tears.

Real fear.

“Charles…”

Everyone turned toward her.

She looked terrified.

“You said nobody would find out.”

Charles froze.

My father smiled slightly.

“Thank you, Madison.”

Her face changed.

Because she realized she had just exposed herself.

Charles had used her.

Ethan had been used too.

The entire wedding was a trap.

But not the trap they thought.

My father had known for months.

He had allowed Ethan and Charles to continue.

Because he wanted proof.

Proof that would destroy them completely.

Suddenly, police officers entered the church.

Everyone gasped.

Charles stood up.

“What is this?”

One officer walked forward.

“Charles Blackwell, you are being investigated for corporate fraud, illegal acquisition attempts, and financial manipulation.”

Charles laughed.

“You have no evidence.”

My father looked at him.

“We have everything.”

The officer handed him a document.

Charles read it.

And his hands began shaking.

Because the evidence came from his own company.

Someone inside Blackwell Enterprises had betrayed him.

Charles looked around.

“Who?”

My father smiled.

“You spent years thinking everyone around you was beneath you.”

He looked at Ethan.

May you like

“You forgot one thing.”

“People remember how they are treated.”
