Chapter 2: The Secret Inside the Vault

The next morning, Bellmont Jewelry was filled with tension.

Every board member had arrived.

Executives whispered in the hallway.

Employees watched Ethan as if he had suddenly become a stranger.

Yesterday, he was just a young worker in a blue uniform.

Today, rumors were spreading that he might become the future owner of the company.

Victor Hale stood in front of the boardroom table, desperately trying to control the situation.

“This is ridiculous,” he said.

“Margaret is old. She made an emotional decision.”

A board member frowned.

“Careful, Victor.”

“She built this company.”

Victor clenched his fists.

“She also trusts strangers.”

At that moment, the door opened.

Margaret entered.

But she was no longer wearing her old brown coat.

She wore an elegant black suit.

Her silver hair was perfectly styled.

The weak elderly woman everyone had ignored was gone.

The real Margaret Whitmore had arrived.

Everyone stood.

Except Victor.

Margaret placed the golden key on the table.

“This key opens the family vault.”

The room became silent.

“The vault contains the original documents that prove who truly owns Bellmont Jewelry.”

Victor’s expression changed.

“You can’t be serious.”

Margaret looked at him.

“You know exactly why I am.”

She turned to Ethan.

“Come with me.”

They walked through the private hallway toward the vault.

The golden key fit perfectly.

The heavy door opened slowly.

Inside was not gold.

Not diamonds.

Not money.

Instead, there were thousands of documents.

Old photographs.

Family records.

And one small wooden box.

Margaret picked it up.

“This belongs to you.”

Ethan stared.

“Me?”

She opened the box.

Inside was a faded photograph.

A young man stood beside Margaret many years ago.

Ethan froze.

Because the man looked exactly like him.

“That’s impossible.”

Margaret’s eyes softened.

“Your father.”

Ethan stepped closer.

“My father died when I was a baby.”

Margaret nodded.

“Everyone told you that.”

A painful silence filled the room.

“But the truth is… your father was my son.”

Ethan’s breathing stopped.

“What?”

Margaret looked at the photograph.

“My son disappeared because he refused to become like the people around him. He gave up his inheritance and chose a simple life.”

She looked at Ethan.

“He had one child.”

Ethan whispered:

“Me.”

Margaret nodded.

“You are the last Whitmore heir.”

Outside the vault, Victor stood listening.

His face was full of fear.

Because he knew something Ethan didn’t.

If Ethan discovered the full truth…

Victor would lose everything.

The company.

The money.

The power.

And the secret he had protected for twenty years.
