CHAPTER 1 — THE MAN WHO REMEMBERED

The sound of the approaching engine grew louder.
The little girl’s fingers tightened around the biker’s leather vest.
She was still shaking.
But this time…
she wasn’t alone.
The biker stood between her and the road, his body blocking her from whatever was coming.
Behind him, twenty men stood beside their motorcycles.
No one spoke.
No one moved.
They had followed him through storms, fights, and years of darkness.
But they had never seen their leader look like this.
Not angry.
Not afraid.
Broken.
The biker slowly looked down at the silver bracelet in his hand.
The name engraved on it burned into his memory.
Lila.
Twenty years ago, he had seen that name written on a hospital bracelet.
A tiny baby girl.
His baby girl.
His throat tightened.
But that was impossible.
Because the baby had died.
At least…
that was what they told him.
His name was Jackson “Jax” Carter.
For most people, he was just a dangerous biker.
A man with tattoos, scars, and a reputation that made strangers cross the street when they saw him coming.
But years ago, before the leather jacket and the endless roads…
he was just a young father.
A man who loved a woman named Emily.
And a daughter he never got the chance to hold.
The night his daughter was born, Jax was told there were complications.
The hospital called him too late.
When he arrived…
Emily was crying.
The doctors were silent.
And his newborn daughter was gone.
At least that was the story.
Jax spent years believing he had lost everything.
Until now.
Until a terrified little girl appeared on an empty road wearing a bracelet with the same name.
The motorcycle finally stopped.
A black SUV parked across the road.
The door opened.
A man stepped out.
Expensive coat.
Cold eyes.
Two men followed behind him.
The little girl immediately hid behind Jax.
“That’s him,” she whispered.
Jax’s expression changed.
“You know this man?”
Lila shook her head.
“He knows me.”
The man smiled.
Not warmly.
Like someone who already owned the outcome.
“Lila.”
The little girl froze.
Jax noticed.
He stepped forward.
“She’s not going anywhere with you.”
The man laughed softly.
“You don’t understand who you’re dealing with.”
Jax looked at the other bikers.
They slowly moved forward.
The man’s smile disappeared.
“You’re making a mistake.”
Jax looked back at Lila.
Then at the bracelet.
“No.”
His voice was calm.
“You made the mistake.”
A pause.
“You came after my daughter.”
The entire road went silent.
Even Jax seemed surprised by his own words.
Because deep inside…
he already knew.
The man’s face changed.
Only for a second.
But Jax saw it.
Fear.
Not because of the bikers.
Because Jax knew the truth.
“You were never supposed to find out,” the man whispered.
Jax stepped closer.
“Find out what?”
The man said nothing.
And that silence told Jax everything.
Someone had lied.
Someone had stolen years from him.
Someone had taken his daughter.
May you like
And now…
they had brought her back.
