Chapter 2: The Truth About Sarah

The ballroom was no longer a wedding.

It had become a courtroom.

And Elena was standing in the center of it.

Daniel walked away from her slowly.

Every step felt heavier than the last.

“Leo
”

His voice trembled.

“Where is your mother?”

The little boy looked toward the entrance.

And everyone followed his eyes.

The massive ballroom doors opened.

A woman stood there.

Simple black dress.

No jewelry.

No expensive makeup.

Just a tired face carrying years of pain.

Sarah.

Daniel stopped.

The world seemed to disappear around him.

For two years

He believed she abandoned them.

He believed she chose money over family.

But the woman standing there looked nothing like the person Elena had described.

She looked like someone who had been fighting alone.

“Sarah
”

Daniel whispered.

She looked at him.

Her eyes were filled with disappointment.

Not anger.

That hurt even more.

“I didn’t want to come here.”

Her voice was quiet.

“But Leo begged me.”

Daniel looked at his son.

“You knew she was coming?”

Leo nodded.

“I wanted you to know the truth.”

Sarah slowly walked into the ballroom.

Martha immediately became defensive.

“This is a manipulation.”

Everyone turned.

Martha lifted her chin.

“She’s trying to destroy your wedding because she couldn’t accept losing you.”

Sarah looked at her.

Then she smiled sadly.

“No, Martha.”

She reached into her purse.

“I’m here because I finally found proof.”

She placed several documents on the table.

Daniel picked them up.

His hands started shaking.

Bank transfers.

Messages.

Emails.

Evidence.

Everything.

The truth unfolded piece by piece.

Sarah had never abandoned Leo.

She had been forced away.

Elena and Martha had created a false story.

They convinced Daniel that Sarah was unstable.

They convinced him that Leo needed protection from his own mother.

They slowly separated a father from his child.

All for control.

Daniel looked at Elena.

“Why?”

One word.

But it carried years of pain.

Elena’s eyes filled with anger.

Not regret.

Anger.

“Because you were supposed to be mine.”

The guests stared.

She continued.

“You had everything. Money. Power. A family name.”

Her voice became colder.

“But Sarah was the only thing standing between me and that life.”

Daniel stepped back.

He finally understood.

He hadn’t fallen in love with Elena.

He had fallen in love with an illusion.

Then Leo walked toward him.

Small steps.

Careful steps.

“Dad
”

Daniel immediately knelt.

For the first time in two years, he was at his son’s level.

“I’m sorry.”

The words came out broken.

“I’m so sorry.”

Leo stared at him.

“You believed them.”

Daniel closed his eyes.

“I know.”

“You didn’t believe me.”

That sentence hurt more than anything.

Daniel hugged his son.

And this time

He didn’t let go.

Behind them, police officers entered the ballroom.

Sarah had already reported the evidence.

The perfect wedding was officially over.

Elena was escorted away.

Martha followed.

But before leaving, she looked back at Daniel.

“You’ll regret choosing them.”

Daniel held Leo tighter.

“No.”

May you like

He looked at his son.

“I regret not choosing him sooner.”
