Chapter 1: The Truth Hidden Behind the Cameras

The room remained silent.

Marcus Thorne stood frozen in the doorway, unable to move.

For years, people had described him as a man who could control anything.

Markets.

Companies.

Enemies.

His own emotions.

But nothing in his life had prepared him for the sight in front of him.

His pregnant wife was lying on the cold marble floor.

And the woman standing above her was someone he had trusted.

“Marcus…” Isabella whispered.

Her voice changed instantly.

The anger disappeared.

The confidence vanished.

She became the frightened woman who had never existed until that moment.

“It’s not what you think.”

Marcus didn’t answer.

His eyes slowly moved toward Khloe.

“Khloe…”

He rushed to her side.

For the first time in years, the billionaire who made entire corporations fear him looked completely helpless.

“Are you hurt?”

Khloe tried to speak, but tears filled her eyes.

“My baby…”

That was all she could say.

Marcus immediately removed his jacket and placed it beneath her head.

“Call the doctor. Now!”

Elaine Parker ran into the hallway.

“Security! Get medical assistance immediately!”

Isabella watched everything.

Her face became pale.

Because she realized something.

Marcus wasn’t looking at her with anger.

He was looking at her like she was a stranger.

A person he had never truly known.

Minutes later, doctors rushed Khloe into emergency care.

Marcus followed until the operating room doors closed.

Then he turned around.

And the man standing there was no longer the loving husband from the gala.

He was the billionaire everyone feared.

“Security footage.”

His voice was cold.

Elaine swallowed.

“Marcus…”

“Every camera in this hallway. Every camera inside this suite.”

He looked directly at her.

“I want everything.”

Elaine nodded.

“There is a security camera inside the room.”

Marcus’s eyes narrowed.

“Then we already know the truth.”

Two hours later.

Marcus sat alone in the hospital’s private security room.

The footage played on the screen.

He watched Isabella enter.

He watched her approach Khloe.

He watched every insult.

Every push.

Every second of violence.

His hands tightened into fists.

But he didn’t look away.

He needed to see it.

He needed to understand how the woman he once called a friend could try to destroy his family.

When the video ended, the room became silent.

Elaine stood behind him.

“I’m sorry, Marcus.”

He stared at the black screen.

“No.”

His voice was quiet.

“I’m sorry I didn’t see it sooner.”

At that moment, his phone rang.

The doctor.

Marcus immediately answered.

“Mr. Thorne…”

The doctor paused.

“Your wife and the baby are stable.”

Marcus closed his eyes.

A breath he didn’t know he was holding finally escaped.

“But there is something you should know.”

His expression changed.

“What?”

“The impact caused complications. Khloe will need complete rest for the remainder of the pregnancy.”

Marcus looked toward the hospital hallway.

His wife had almost lost their child.

Because of someone he allowed into their lives.

“Thank you, doctor.”

After hanging up, Marcus looked at Isabella through the glass window.

She was sitting in the waiting area.

Still pretending.

Still acting innocent.

Marcus walked toward her slowly.

Isabella stood.

“Marcus, please listen—”

“Why?”

The single word stopped her.

“Why did you do it?”

Her lips trembled.

“Because you loved me first.”

Marcus stared at her.

A painful silence filled the room.

Then he spoke.

“No.”

Isabella froze.

“You loved the idea of taking something that belonged to someone else.”

His voice became colder.

“My wife.”

“My child.”

“My family.”

May you like

“And you thought you could destroy them without consequences.”

For the first time that night, Isabella looked afraid.
