Chapter 2: The Man Behind The Camera

The bank alarm continued flashing.

But something strange happened.

The police never entered.

The robbers waited.

Five seconds.

Ten seconds.

Nothing.

The first robber laughed nervously.

“You were bluffing.”

He walked toward Noah again.

But before he could reach him

The bank speakers turned on.

A voice filled the lobby.

Calm.

Cold.

Familiar.

“Put the knife down.”

Every person on the floor froze.

Noah’s eyes widened.

He knew that voice.

Even after five years.

Even after all the nights his mother told him his father was never coming back.

He knew.

“Dad
”

The voice continued.

“Everyone in this room is safe. The exits are locked. Your weapons have been identified.”

The robber looked around in panic.

“How are you doing this?”

The voice answered:

“Because I designed this bank’s emergency system.”

The security monitors suddenly changed.

The camera feeds disappeared.

Then a single image appeared.

A man standing in a dark room.

Older.

Tired.

But alive.

Daniel Carter.

Noah covered his mouth.

Tears finally appeared in his eyes.

“Dad
”

The robber stepped backward.

“No
”

He recognized the face.

Because Daniel Carter was the reason he had spent years hiding.

“You’re supposed to be dead.”

Daniel looked directly at the camera.

“I wanted criminals to believe that.”

The second robber reached for his gun.

But before he could move, every security door in the bank opened.

Not outward.

Inward.

Blocking every escape route.

Daniel spoke again.

“You made one mistake.”

The robber stared at the screen.

“What?”

“You chose my son.”

Silence.

Daniel continued.

“You thought he was just a child.”

The camera zoomed closer to Noah.

“But you forgot something.”

Noah looked up.

“My son knows exactly what courage looks like.”

The first robber suddenly threw the knife onto the floor.

The second robber tried to escape through the emergency exit.

But the doors opened.

And standing outside were dozens of armed officers.

The robbery was over.

But Noah still stood there.

Looking at the screen.

Waiting.

Because he had one question.

“Why did you leave me?”

The entire bank became silent.

Daniel’s expression changed.

For the first time

He looked like a father.

Not an agent.

May you like

Not a fighter.

Just a man who had missed his son.
