Chapter 1: The Man Who Never Lost a Case

The first thing Harrison Cole did after the ambulance doors closed was make a phone call.

Not to the police.

Not to the media.

Not even to the hospital.

He called his legal assistant.

“Open a new case file,” he said.

His voice was calm.

Too calm.

“Cole versus Harrington.”

A pause.

His assistant knew that name.

Everyone in Pennsylvania knew that name.

“Harrison… is this about your sister?”

His eyes remained fixed on the ambulance disappearing down the courthouse driveway.

“Yes.”

Another pause.

“Then I assume you want every resource available.”

Harrison looked back at the marble stairs where Khloe had fallen.

Where his sister’s blood still stained the stone.

“No.”

His voice lowered.

“I want everything.”

At Montgomery County Hospital, doctors fought for two lives.

Khloe lay unconscious beneath bright surgical lights.

Her baby’s heartbeat was dangerously unstable.

Outside the operating room, Harrison stood completely still.

For almost three hours, he didn’t sit.

He didn’t drink water.

He didn’t answer messages.

He simply stared at the closed doors.

Because for the first time in his career…

Harrison Cole had no control.

He could destroy corporations.

He could expose corrupt politicians.

He could make billionaires tremble in court.

But he couldn’t force his sister to wake up.

He couldn’t guarantee that the child she fought so hard to have would survive.

Then the doors opened.

A doctor stepped out.

“Harrison Cole?”

He immediately moved forward.

“How is she?”

The doctor removed his mask.

“Your sister is stable.”

Harrison closed his eyes for one second.

A breath of relief escaped him.

“But…”

The word changed everything.

“The fall caused severe trauma. She lost a lot of blood. We had to perform an emergency C-section.”

Harrison’s expression tightened.

“And the baby?”

The doctor smiled slightly.

“A little girl.”

For the first time that day…

Harrison Cole broke.

Not loudly.

Not dramatically.

Just one small tear.

“My niece?”

The doctor nodded.

“She’s alive.”

Two floors above, Richard Harrington watched the news coverage from his private hospital room.

The headline was already everywhere.

"Pregnant Wife Falls Down Courthouse Steps — Investigation Begins."

Richard hated the word.

Wife.

Because it reminded him of everything he was about to lose.

His company.

His reputation.

His fortune.

Across the room, Vanessa Kensington paced nervously.

“This is not what was supposed to happen.”

Richard looked at her sharply.

“Lower your voice.”

“She was supposed to scare easily.”

Vanessa stopped.

“I only pushed her a little.”

Richard’s face changed.

“You need to stop saying that.”

“But you told me she would disappear after the divorce.”

“She was supposed to.”

Vanessa stared at him.

“What now?”

Richard walked toward the window.

Below them, reporters gathered outside the hospital.

Then his phone rang.

He looked at the screen.

The name made his blood run cold.

Harrison Cole.

Richard didn’t answer.

The phone kept ringing.

Then a message appeared.

One sentence.

"You have 24 hours before I make your entire empire collapse."

Richard slowly lowered the phone.

For the first time in his life…

He was afraid.

The next morning, Harrison entered Khloe’s hospital room.

She looked smaller than he remembered.

Pale.

Exhausted.

But alive.

Her eyes opened slowly.

“Harry…”

He immediately grabbed her hand.

“I’m here.”

Her eyes filled with tears.

“The baby?”

Harrison smiled gently.

“She’s beautiful.”

Khloe cried silently.

“A girl?”

“Yes.”

A weak smile appeared on her face.

“She has your stubbornness.”

Harrison almost laughed.

Almost.

Then Khloe’s expression changed.

“Harry…”

“What?”

“She pushed me.”

The room became silent.

Harrison already knew.

But hearing it from his sister made something inside him turn cold.

“Tell me everything.”

Khloe looked away.

“Richard knew.”

Harrison’s jaw tightened.

“He knew Vanessa was angry?”

“No.”

Her voice cracked.

“He knew she wanted me gone.”

Harrison leaned closer.

“What do you mean?”

Khloe swallowed.

“He told me yesterday morning that after the baby was born, he wanted a divorce.”

A pause.

“And he said Vanessa would be a better mother.”

Harrison’s eyes became empty.

Cold.

Surgical.

The nickname people gave him in court suddenly made sense.

“Then he wasn’t just cheating.”

Harrison slowly stood.

“He was replacing you.”

That afternoon, Harrison walked into Harrington Commercial Group headquarters.

Nobody stopped him.

They knew who he was.

Executives whispered as he passed.

The feared attorney.

The man who destroyed Fortune 500 companies.

Richard was waiting inside his office.

“You’re making a mistake, Harrison.”

Harrison placed a folder on the desk.

“No.”

He opened it.

“I’m correcting one.”

Richard looked inside.

His face changed.

Bank transfers.

Hidden accounts.

Hotel records.

Messages.

Everything.

“You don’t understand who you’re dealing with.”

Harrison smiled slightly.

“That’s exactly what everyone says before they lose.”

Richard leaned forward.

“You think you can ruin me?”

Harrison closed the folder.

“No.”

May you like

He looked directly into his eyes.

“I think you already ruined yourself.”
