Chapter 2 — The Fall of the De la Vega Empire

The USB drive changed everything.

Inside were hidden security recordings from the mansion.

Not just Elena’s accident.

Years of secrets.

Victoria humiliating employees.

Her son Alejandro threatening workers.

Illegal payments.

Fake documents.

Everything.

But the most important file was the last one.

The recording from the night Elena fell.

I watched it alone in my apartment.

My hands were shaking.

The video started.

Elena was standing near the service stairs.

Her face was pale.

Her hands were protecting her pregnant belly.

Then Victoria appeared.

“You think you can destroy my family?”

Elena cried.

“I never did anything wrong.”

Victoria stepped closer.

“You are just a servant.”

Those words broke something inside me.

Because Elena had always believed everyone deserved kindness.

Even people who hurt her.

Then the video showed Victoria grabbing the decorative object.

The same object that changed my life forever.

But before she could throw it…

Someone entered the room.

Her youngest son.

Daniel De la Vega.

He saw everything.

And he did nothing.

He simply walked away.

Leaving Elena alone.

Leaving my wife to fall.

I closed my eyes.

The pain was overwhelming.

It wasn’t just Victoria.

It was the entire family.

They all knew.

They all protected each other.

The next morning, I made my first move.

I sent anonymous copies of financial records to journalists.

Not everything.

Just enough.

Enough to create questions.

Enough to make investors nervous.

Within days, De la Vega Holdings began losing millions.

The family panicked.

Victoria became desperate.

I watched her from the driver's seat.

For the first time, she looked afraid.

“What is happening?” she shouted at her son.

“Our accounts are being investigated.”

“Find who did this!”

Nobody suspected me.

Nobody ever suspects the person carrying their bags.

But then Victoria made a mistake.

She started investigating the mansion staff.

Including me.

One evening, she called me into her office.

The room was filled with Elena’s memories.

The same room where my wife had probably begged for mercy.

Victoria stared at me.

“Mateo.”

“Yes, Mrs. De la Vega?”

“You’ve worked here for months.”

“Yes.”

“You never complain.”

“No.”

“You never ask questions.”

“No.”

She walked closer.

“Why?”

I looked into the eyes of the woman who destroyed my family.

And I almost lost control.

Almost.

“Because people like me know our place.”

She smiled.

“Good answer.”

Then she walked away.

She never realized how close she came to the truth.

But someone else did.

Daniel.

The youngest De la Vega son.

The man who saw Elena fall.

The man who lived with his guilt every day.

That night, Daniel found me outside the garage.

“I know who you are.”

My blood froze.

“What did you say?”

He looked at me with tired eyes.

“You’re Elena’s husband.”

Silence filled the garage.

I prepared myself.

But Daniel didn’t attack.

He started crying.

“I was a coward.”

I said nothing.

“I saw what my mother did.”

His voice broke.

“And I let her lie.”

For years, I imagined this moment.

I imagined revenge.

Anger.

Violence.

But seeing Daniel broken in front of me felt different.

Because he wasn’t the enemy anymore.

He was another victim of that family.

“I can help you,” he said.

I stared at him.

“Why?”

He looked down.

“Because Elena deserved someone to fight for her.”

That night, the final piece of my plan came together.

May you like

I wasn’t going to destroy the De la Vegas with anger.

I was going to destroy them with the truth.
