Chapter 1: The Man Who Walked Through the Door

For three seconds...

Nobody moved.

The mansion that had always belonged to Santiago Rivas suddenly felt like it belonged to someone else.

Ricardo Salazar stood beneath the crystal chandelier, his eyes fixed on the man who had spent years humiliating his daughter.

Santiago's confident expression disappeared.

The arrogance.

The smile.

The certainty that nobody could touch him.

All of it vanished.

"Who are you?" Santiago finally asked, although his voice already carried fear.

Ricardo slowly removed his black gloves.

"My name is Ricardo Salazar."

The silence that followed was heavier than any scream.

Beatriz's wine glass slipped slightly in her hand.

Everyone in Mexico's business world knew that name.

Ricardo Salazar.

Founder of Grupo Salazar.

A man whose decisions could raise companies or destroy them overnight.

A man who never appeared in public without a reason.

Santiago looked at Valeria.

Then back at Ricardo.

"No..."

He shook his head.

"That's impossible."

Valeria lowered her eyes.

For years, she had hidden the truth.

Not because she was ashamed of her father.

Because she wanted to know if someone could love her without knowing her last name.

Without knowing her bank account.

Without knowing the power behind her family.

And Santiago had proven the answer.

He didn't love Valeria Mendoza.

He loved the woman he thought he could control.

Ricardo walked toward his daughter.

His expression softened for the first time.

"Are you hurt?"

Valeria tried to answer.

But after years of pretending she was strong...

Her walls finally broke.

A single tear rolled down her cheek.

"I'm okay, Dad."

Ricardo looked at her swollen belly.

Then at Santiago.

"No."

His voice was quiet.

But everyone heard it.

"My daughter is not okay."

One of the attorneys opened a leather briefcase.

Inside were documents.

Hundreds of pages.

Medical records.

Financial transactions.

Security footage.

Copies of every fake document Santiago and Beatriz had created.

Santiago's face turned pale.

"You broke into my office?"

Ricardo looked at him coldly.

"No."

"I collected evidence."

The attorney placed the documents on the marble table.

"Mr. Rivas, we have recordings of threats, financial fraud, illegal custody preparations, and attempts to manipulate medical evaluations."

Beatriz stepped forward.

"This is ridiculous. Valeria is unstable. We were only protecting the child."

Ricardo looked at her.

"The woman who protected my daughter from you is the only reason that child is safe tonight."

Beatriz's confidence faded.

Because for the first time...

Someone powerful enough was standing against her.

Santiago clenched his fists.

"You think money makes you untouchable?"

Ricardo stared at him.

"No."

"I think consequences do."

The next morning...

The world of Santiago Rivas collapsed.

News outlets reported investigations into Rivas International.

Business partners withdrew.

Banks froze accounts.

The same people who once praised Santiago suddenly refused to answer his calls.

But Santiago still had one weapon.

May you like

Fear.

And he wasn't finished.
