CHAPTER 2: The Fall of Cassandra
Three days later, Marcus hosted one of the biggest charity events of the year.
Hundreds of powerful people filled the Vale mansion.
Business leaders.
Celebrities.
Politicians.
Everyone came to celebrate Marcus and Cassandra’s engagement.
And Cassandra loved every second of it.
She walked through the room like a queen.
Everyone admired her.
“She’s perfect for Marcus.”
“She’s such a wonderful mother figure.”
“She changed that family.”
Those words made Marcus almost laugh.
Because nobody knew the truth.
Except him.
And tonight…
Everyone would see.
Halfway through the evening, Marcus stepped onto the stage.
Cassandra stood beside him, smiling proudly.
“I want to share something important tonight,” Marcus said.
The room became silent.
Cassandra reached for his hand.
She expected an engagement announcement.

The screen turned black.

“No…”
She whispered.
Marcus watched her reaction.

Fear.
“You recorded me?” Cassandra said angrily.
Marcus looked at her.
“No.”
His voice was cold.
“I recorded the truth.”
The video continued.
Everyone watched as Cassandra’s perfect image collapsed in front of them.
The woman who had pretended to be kind was exposed.
Some guests covered their mouths.
Others looked away in shame.
Cassandra immediately tried to fight back.
“This is manipulated!”
She turned toward the crowd.
“He’s trying to destroy me because our relationship is ending!”
Marcus didn’t react.
Because he knew she would say that.
A second screen appeared.
More footage.
Cassandra insulting Lily.
Cassandra threatening her.
Cassandra forcing her to stay silent.
The room became completely silent.
Then a small voice came from behind Marcus.
“Daddy…”
Everyone turned.
Lily stood there holding her favorite stuffed animal.
Marcus immediately walked toward her.
Cassandra stepped forward.
“Lily, tell them I never hurt you.”
The little girl froze.
Old fear returned to her eyes.
But this time…
She wasn’t alone.
Marcus held her hand.
“You don’t have to be afraid anymore.”
Lily looked at Cassandra.
Then quietly said:
“You made me feel like I didn’t belong in my own home.”
Those words destroyed Cassandra more than any video.
Because they came from the person she had tried to silence.
Within weeks, Cassandra lost everything.
