Chapter 3 – The Evidence Room

The panic had barely settled when another metallic sound echoed through the ballroom.
A side wall...
Moved.
Guests stumbled backward.
Behind polished walnut panels...
A hidden operations center slowly revealed itself.
Rows of monitors.
Live surveillance.
Private security officers.
Digital archives.
Every camera in Mercer Hall had been recording continuously for years.
Samuel Carter stepped into the ballroom.
Gray suit.
Military posture.
Calm eyes.
He stopped beside me.
"Ma'am."
He handed me a secure tablet.
"All evidence has been verified."
Richard lunged forward.
"That's private property!"
Samuel didn't even look at him.
"It became evidence the moment you committed felony assault."
The tablet displayed everything.
Richard grabbing my arm.
Richard throwing me into the marble wall.
His friends laughing.
Guests watching.
No edits.
No missing frames.
Several women in the ballroom quietly covered their mouths.
One elderly judge lowered his head.
He had witnessed everything...
And remained silent.
Samuel spoke again.
"Local police have already received encrypted copies."
"State prosecutors have confirmed receipt."
"Federal investigators are downloading backup archives now."
Richard's attorney suddenly looked ill.
He whispered only two words.
"We're finished."
Richard turned toward me.
For the first time all evening...
His arrogance vanished completely.
"What do you want?"
I looked at him for several long seconds.
May you like
"The truth."
"And accountability."
