The police arrived twenty minutes later.
The poisoned salmon was taken away for testing.
The restaurant was surrounded.
But Adrian couldn’t stop thinking about one thing.
The boy.
Leo sat quietly in a private room inside the restaurant.
A waiter brought him food.
A warm meal.
Fresh clothes.
But Leo didn’t touch anything.
Adrian walked in slowly.
“You’re hungry.”
Leo looked down.
“I’m okay.”
Adrian frowned.
“No child who says that is okay.”
The boy stayed silent.
For the first time, Adrian noticed how small he was.
How tired he looked.
“How did you meet that woman?”
Leo’s fingers moved over his teddy bear.
“She found me two days ago.”
Adrian sat down.
“Where?”
“Behind the hotel.”
The billionaire’s eyes narrowed.
“She gave you the bear?”
Leo nodded.
“She told me to wait near the restaurant today.”
Adrian became still.
“Why?”
Leo looked confused.
“She said someone would pay me.”
A painful silence filled the room.
Adrian understood.
Someone had used this child.
Someone had planned to make him the messenger.
But why?
Then Leo suddenly looked at Adrian.
“She told me something else.”
“What?”
“She said…”
The boy slowly opened the teddy bear.
Adrian noticed the stitching had been recently cut.
Inside was something hidden.
A small black memory card.
Everyone froze.
The security team immediately moved closer.
Adrian stared at the object.
“What is that?”
Leo whispered:
“She said you would know.”
Adrian took the memory card carefully.
Minutes later, his private investigator connected it to a laptop.
A video appeared.
The screen showed Victoria Hayes.
Alive.
Sitting in a dark room.
She looked directly into the camera.
“Adrian.”
His entire body went still.
Her voice.
Her face.
After ten years.
“You always believed you were betrayed by everyone around you.”
Victoria smiled coldly.
“But you were wrong.”
The video continued.
“I didn’t disappear because of the crash.”
Adrian’s jaw tightened.
“I disappeared because someone close to you wanted me gone.”
The room became silent.
Then Victoria said the words that changed everything.
“The person who tried to kill me…”
She paused.
“…is the same person who is trying to kill you today.”
The video cut.
Adrian stared at the black screen.
His mind raced.
Someone close.
Someone trusted.
Someone who knew his entire empire.
Then his assistant rushed into the room.
“Mr. Vale…”
Adrian turned.
The assistant looked terrified.
“The poison report came back.”
“And?”
The assistant swallowed.
“It wasn’t meant to kill you immediately.”
Adrian frowned.
“What do you mean?”
The assistant lowered his voice.
“It was designed to make you look like you died naturally.”
Everyone became silent.
Because that meant one thing.
The killer wasn’t trying to create chaos.
They were trying to steal something after his death.
His company.
His fortune.
His entire legacy.
Then Leo suddenly spoke.
“I know who it is.”
Everyone looked at him.
Adrian stepped closer.
“Who?”
The boy pointed toward the laptop.
Toward Victoria’s frozen image.
“No…”
Leo shook his head.
“Not her.”
His eyes filled with fear.
“The man who gave her orders.”
Adrian froze.
“What man?”
Leo whispered:
“The man who told her…”
A tear rolled down his face.
“…to kill my father.”
