Chapter 1: The Secret Room Beneath Castillo Manor

The entire Castillo Manor went silent after Alejandro Castillo froze Vivian Moretti’s accounts.
For the first time in three years…
Vivian looked afraid.
The confident woman who had walked through the mansion like she owned everything suddenly looked like someone who had been caught hiding a crime.
But Alejandro wasn’t looking at her.
His eyes were only on Elena.
His wife.
The woman he had searched for across continents.
The woman he had mourned every night.
The woman standing barefoot in front of him, wearing a maid’s uniform inside her own home.
“Elena…” Alejandro whispered again.
She looked away.
Not because she didn’t recognize him.
But because she was scared.
Three years of fear had changed her.
The Elena he remembered was fearless.
She was the woman who argued with board members twice her age.
The woman who walked into a room full of billionaires and made them listen.
But now…
she couldn’t even lift her eyes.
“Why didn’t you come back to me?” Alejandro asked softly.
A tear rolled down Elena’s face.
“I tried.”
Her voice cracked.
“I tried so many times.”
Alejandro stepped closer.
“Then why didn’t I hear anything?”
Elena looked toward Vivian.
And Alejandro finally understood.
She wasn’t afraid of the past.
She was afraid of the person standing behind it.
Vivian slowly placed the wine glass on the table.
“You should be careful, Alejandro,” she said calmly.
“You disappeared from this house for years chasing ghosts. Maybe you’re just seeing what you want to see.”
Alejandro’s expression hardened.
“My wife’s voice is not something I can forget.”
Vivian smiled.
“That’s exactly why this is dangerous.”
Before Alejandro could respond, Elena suddenly grabbed his arm.
“Don’t.”
He looked at her.
“Don’t do anything yet.”
“Why?”
Her fingers tightened around his sleeve.
“Because you don’t know what she did.”
A cold silence filled the room.
Alejandro looked at Vivian.
Then back at Elena.
“What happened during those three years?”
Elena swallowed.
“She took everything.”
“My identity.”
“My money.”
“My documents.”
“My life.”
Alejandro felt his chest tighten.
“How?”
Elena looked toward the old hallway behind the staircase.
“There is a room.”
Alejandro frowned.
“What room?”
“A room she never wanted anyone to find.”
Twenty minutes later…
Alejandro stood in front of a hidden wooden door behind a massive painting.
The painting showed the Castillo family from ten years ago.
Before Elena disappeared.
Before Vivian entered their lives.
Elena stood beside him, shaking.
“She locked me there the first night.”
Alejandro turned.
“She locked you inside this mansion?”
Elena nodded.
“I discovered she had been changing company records. She was moving Castillo investments into fake companies.”
“She found out I knew.”
“And she made sure nobody would believe me.”
Alejandro touched the hidden lock.
“How did you survive?”
Elena looked down.
“The servants secretly brought me food.”
“Some of them wanted to help.”
“But Vivian threatened their families.”
Alejandro closed his eyes.
Three years.
His wife had been trapped under his own roof.
And nobody knew.
The hidden door finally opened.
Inside was a small dark room.
Dust covered everything.
Old files.
Hard drives.
Legal documents.
And dozens of photographs.
Alejandro picked up one photo.
His blood ran cold.
It showed Vivian shaking hands with a lawyer.
The date was three days before Elena disappeared.
Then he found another document.
A fake death certificate.
With Elena Castillo’s name.
Signed by a doctor who never existed.
Alejandro’s hands tightened.
“She planned your disappearance.”
Elena whispered:
“She planned everything.”
Suddenly…
a sound came from behind them.
A phone ringing.
They turned.
A small old device was hidden under the files.
Alejandro picked it up.
There was one saved voicemail.
He pressed play.
A woman’s voice filled the room.
Vivian’s voice.
“If Elena refuses to sign the papers… make sure she never leaves this house.”
Alejandro froze.
Because now he knew.
His wife wasn’t missing.
May you like
She was kidnapped.
And the person responsible had been living in his mansion all along.
